influence

Last month, in my Applied English class we have been make speeches on our topic. We had topics like Pc Gaming, Army, Hunting, Drag Racing, Mud Racing, Weightlifting, Bowling, Sleeping, Yu Gi Oh, World Of Warcraft, Roller Dollz, Recycling, Anime, and Mopar Performance. I did the one on Mopar, and now we are suppose to talk what influence as. I know some on all the topic but I learned a lot of cool things like in Drag Racing and Mud Racing are just about the same like to make the car as lite as posible. World of Warcraft is a Pc game take puts you in a fantasy world. When we had the person talk about the Army it sounded cool but not for me. The Hunting topic was good because the guy brought in his trailer with a lot of hunting gear. The drag racing topic also good because we want outside and looked at his drag car. He had a camaro with a 400 small block and a turbo 350 tranny.

Demonstration

What I plan to do for my demonstration, I'm going to bring my truck and then show everyone why I like it. I have a 1992 Dodge Dakota with a 5.2L magnum V8 but I hope to have a 5.9L magnum under the hood when I do my demonstation. I will be showing them the engine, the tranny, and also tell how much horse power and torque that the motor makes. When I do my presentation I will have the new motor under the hood and the old motor in the back of the truck, to show my classmates the similarities and the differences of the 5.2L and the 5.9L. I will tell my classmates how long it take my to swap motors, and also tell samewhat in depth what the tranny is and what I have done to the tranny. For may power point I'm going to have the history on the old Mopars ( 60's & 70's).

Mopars wanting to build

When I get done with collage (Wyotech) I would like to build or restore a 1969 Dodge Charger ( Genral Lee ). The Genral would have to have a Hemi maybe an Indy Hemi. A 1966 Dodge Charger ( Elite ). The elite would have the stock motor, but I would rebuild the motor, the hp would be around 650+ and then torque would be around 800 or more. Then I would have to build a 1970 Hemi Cuda, maybe a # maching hemi but if not a clone. The Cuda would have a 528 crate motor from Indy that makes from 65o to 730 hp and 630 to 660 ft lbs of torque.

Questions

1. How often do you change oil? Well it all depends on what kind of oil you use. If you using conventional motor, synthetic blend, or full synthetic motor oil. Conventional should be change every 3000 miles or 3 mouths, synthetic blend is about 5000 miles or 5 mouths, and for full synthetic is about 7500 miles or 6 mouths.

2. Whats the best performing engine v6, v8? I like to use a v8 because I can get more power out of a v8 then any other kind a motor ( I4 I6 v6 v10 v12), and the parts I think will give you more power per cylinder.

3. Do you work on motor often? When I lived in Minnesota I would work with engine everyday, but now maybe about once a mouth because I don't have the tools I need where I live now. But when I get done with high school I will be working on cars, trucks, and engine.

4. What is a spark plug? Well a spark plug is a part that will ignite the air fuel mixture in the cylinder on the power stroke.

5.What does an alternator do? When you start your car you are using power from the battery and if you also have the radio on. The alternator will " charge" the battery so it does not get to low so your car will not start.

6.What is a timing belt? A timing belt or a timing chain (something) is connected to the camshaft and the crankshaft. When the crankshaft rotates the timing chain rotates the camshaft that opens and closes the valves to start the engine and keep it running.

7.What does coolant do? Coolant will make your engine run cooler because the coolant has taken all the heat away. But you cannot run just coolant in are engine, for the max amount of cooling power. I would use a 50/50 mix of coolant and water. If you have to much water your block will crack in the winter and in the summer the engine will overheat.

8. What does oil prevent? The oil will prevent friction inside the engine that can cause bearings to fail when they get to hot. Oil is like coolant it will cool the inside parts by lubricating the part so they don't overheat.

9.Is there different sizes of spark plug? Yes there is different sizes of spark plug, as in nut size, thread length. It all depens on the length of the cylinder head where the spark plug goes.

10.About how long till an engine breaks down? Well there is no true answer on how long until the engine is broken because a bran new engine can break down. If you keep changing the oil and other fluids the engine could last a long time, but if you don't the engine will start to use oil and burn oil. And when that happens you will have a big mess on your hands. Other thing you can do to prevent your engine of breaking down is to have a shop inspect your car.

11.How do you change oil? If you don't have a lift to lift your car in the air you would put a jack under the car and lift it about five to six ins off the ground. Then put jack stands on the frame so it will not fall on you. After you have done that you can unbolt the drain plug and let all the oil out. When all the oil is out put the plug back in, then take the filter off. When you have the filter off you can put the new one in ( don't cross thread the filter if you do the filter will leak). Then put the new oil on and then start the engine wait until you have oil presure, then check to see if you put enough oil in your engine. If you have a lift, all you need to do is lift the vehicle in the air and then follow the steps above.

12. What is the best kind of oil? I think the best kind is Royal Purple because it's a full synthetic that racer use. And if it will work for racing it will work in your engine. It will also make more horse power, torque, and improve mileage.

13. What does Mopar stand for? Mopar stand for motor and parts, in the 60's and 70's all it was about was high performance so for Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler they had Mopar. Like Ford they have ford racing.

14. What does v8 stand for? Well v8 stands for how big the engine is (by how many cylinders). The V in v8 stands for the shape of the engine (the engine looks like a big V), and the 8 stands for how many cylinders the engine has.

15. What is horse power? If an engine makes 1 horse power it is equal to one horse. So if you have more horse power your car will be faster. Although if your tires can not hold all the power that your engine is putting out you will not be faster, so if you are looking for something to make your car faster I would put a locker and other parts to put all the power to the ground instend of burn your tires ( yes I know it looked cool but you will be replacing tires a lot).

16. Is a hemi the best? If you would ask any Mopar guy if the 426 hemi is the best engine they will say yes, because the design of the head. The head is hemispherical ( half a sphere). So the air fuel mix goes straight in and straight out. For more power because it's a straight shot, the mixture doesn't have to cross to the other side of the cylinder.

17. What is a piston? The piston is a part where all the air - fuel mix is compress and ignited. A piston is made for cast iron and aluminum. For racing they use forged aluminum piston because of the high compression.

18. How often do you work on your truck? I work on my truck at lest once a month, but when I drop a 5.9L magnum under the hood of my 1992 Dodge Dakota I will be working on it for a few weeks. When I put the bigger magnum in I'm going to fix the trany and also put a shit kit in the trany so all the power going out of the 5.9L (360 ci) is put to the ground. And also going to be having a locker put in the rear end so both tires turn at the same speed. Then going to be putting on a shaker hood, like the old mopars had to show what a shaker hood does.( It's a hood scoop that is mounted to the engine, so when you put your foot down the scoop will move with the engine).
